In this workshop teachers, parents and providers learn a unique methodology that encompasses rhythm as a modality to address basic life and The TRAP program is designed for people of all ages with various intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as students in typical preschools. It may be applied in lower grades for children who are working on basic life skills such as focus, attention, self-regulation, confidence, reading, writing, arithmetic, perceptual visual, tactile and auditory matches, lateral skills and fine and gross motor skills. Based in simple musical notation, the methodology is facilitated in visual aids, literature, as well as video. We integrate drums and percussion instruments as creative learning tools that address life skills, socially and pedagogically. This two day workshop is perfect for teachers, parents and other providers who are interested in finding different modalities to help teach these core concepts. A background in music or drumming is not necessary, this is closer to a Special Education class than a music or drumming program.
