Description

Press release from the Nassau County Government: April 26, 2022 (MINEOLA, N.Y.) – On Monday, April 25, the Nassau County Legislature was poised to vote to approve a settlement with Dover Gourmet Corporation. However, following criticism from Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) and the issuance of a critical report from the independent Office of the Inspector General, the vote was pulled from the legislative agenda. Following Monday's action, Minority Leader Abrahams issued the following statement: "I am glad that the County Executive heeded our call to re-bid this work and abandon a settlement that would have given a vendor with a spotty performance record a long-term, no-bid contract extension they never asked for," Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) said. "Such an outcome clearly would not have been in the best interest of our residents. Moving forward, the members of the Minority Caucus will continue to ensure that competitive bidding delivers the best services to Nassau taxpayers at the best possible price." This press release was produced by the Nassau County Government. The views expressed here are the author's own.
