STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an announcement from her office.
Simmons' husband Art Linares tested positive Thursday morning after taking a PCR test. Simmons then took an at-home rapid test and tested positive as well.
Both are feeling well and isolating at home, according to spokesperson to the mayor Lauren Meyer. Simmons is fully vaccinated and boosted.
"The mayor wants to remind everyone to utilize effective interventions to fight off the COVID-19 virus including getting vaccinated and boosted, proper masking and social distancing when appropriate," Simmons' office said.
Simmons was slated to appear at the Stamford Chamber of Commerce's State of the City event on Thursday, but she appeared via a pre-recorded video instead, according to the Stamford Advocate.
