Description
Truck program was developed to keep traffic moving, in 1994, by clearing stranded motorists off the parkways and expressway during rush hours.
NY Dept of Transportation posts on its website "Our Highway Emergency Local Patrol (HELP) program provides free roadside emergency services on many major roads throughout the state during peak travel times. Seventy red, blue, and white service trucks cover 16 patrol areas in many metropolitan areas throughout the state, aiding more than 65,000 motorists annually."
