Sharon Tops 5,000 Mail-In Voting Applications

SHARON, MA — Sharon has sent out more than 5,000 mail-in ballots with the deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot for the Sept. 1 state primary Wednesday at 5 p.m. Sharon Town Clerk Mark Hogan said the town sent out its 5,044th mail-in ballot on Tuesday and urges residents to fill them out and return them as soon as possible to make sure they are recorded by 8 p.m. on election night. Mail-in ballots may be returned by mail, in-person to the clerk's office or via the white drop box labeled "Ballots Only" in the foyer of Sharon Town Hall. Hogan also reports 114 voters taking advantage of early voting in the first three days since it began on Aug. 22. Early voting will take place at the town clerk's office 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Hogan said votes received through Friday will be tabulated on Sunday with both the opening and tabulating of ballots open to the public in the lobby of town hall. All ballots received after Friday will be brought to Sharon High School on Sept. 1 for tabulation on election day. In-person voting for the state primary is 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Sharon High.
