Description
NAUGATUCK, CT — Students and faculty at Naugatuck's Andrews Avenue School were temporarily evacuated from the facility Thursday morning following the discovery of a problem with an air conditioning unit, according to fire officials.
No injuries were reported in the incident, which began when staff detected an odor of smoke and contacted the Naugatuck Fire Department.
"We located the problem in an air handling unit in the ceiling at the end of the main hallway," fire officials wrote on Facebook (see below). "Unit was shut down and the area ventilated."
Students and staff followed evacuation protocol, and were temporarily in the school's gym before being allowed to return to class.
