SHARON, MA — Sharon police will be increasing patrols on the outlook for pedestrian and bicycle violations through a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security.
Through the grant, Sharon officers will be increase patrols over the next few months. Sharon police said these assignments are designed to stress pedestrian and bicycle safety.
Residents can use the traffic form on the town's website to suggest area of enforcement.
A motorist must yield, slow or stop his or her vehicle for a pedestrian who is either on the same half of the way as the vehicle, or who is approaching from the opposite half of the way and is within 10 feet of the vehicle lines.
The fine for a pedestrian crosswalk violation is up to $200.
