Business Buglarized, Another Catalytic Converter Stolen: Police

FALLS CHURCH, VA — A business on Wilson Boulevard was burglarized by two people, while another Toyota Prius had its catalytic converter stolen, according to the Falls Church Police Department. Early in the morning on April 19, police officers responded to a commercial alarm and discovered a business had been burglarized on Wilson Boulevard. Two people were seen on security video wearing all dark clothing, hoodies and medical-type masks. The burglars fled the scene before police arrived. Falls Church detectives were notified and processed the scene, police said. Between 6 p.m. on April 20 and 8 a.m. on April 21, a catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Prius on S. Virginia Avenue, police said. There are no suspects in the theft. Toyota Prius cars continue to be targeted by thieves who are hoping to make money off the metal used to make the catalytic converters. The thieves often sell the stolen catalytic converter to scrapyards for anywhere from $50 to $300. Between 11 p.m. on April 20 and 7 a.m. on April 21, items were stolen from a car on Wilson Boulevard, police said. Around 8:30 p.m. on April 20, a woman was seen shoplifting items from a business on S. Washington Street. The woman is described as between 40 and 50 years old, with dark hair. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt, black pants and black shoes, police said.
