Arlington Nonprofits Receive $10K Grants From NoVA Foundation

ARLINGTON, VA — The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia awarded $613,735 in grants to 50 organizations, including three grants to Arlington County-based groups. The grants were made through the foundation's 2022 Community Investment Funds, Environment Fund and Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts. They represent the largest ever grants cycle in the history of the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. The growth of the foundation's grants program is possible due to the Permanent Fund for Northern Virginia, an endowment the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is developing. To date, the Permanent Fund is valued at more than $27 million in current and planned gifts. The foundation funds organizations that serve the Northern Virginia community in the areas of aging, arts, child and youth development, education, environment, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, military personnel and families, and safety net to support basic needs. In Arlington, Aspire received a $10,000 grant from the foundation to address learning for students in low-income households. The foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to Arlington-based Doorways for Women and Families, funding that will provide shelter and housing support services for those experiencing a housing crisis. Another Arlington-based group, PathForward, received a $10,000 grant to serve more than 500 veterans and other people experiencing homelessness.
