MERCER COUNTY, NJ — An off-duty Trenton police officer thwarted an armed bank robbery and is being hailed as a hero by her department. Officer Ja'Neice Worley was working an off-duty security detail at a Wells Fargo Bank in Trenton when a suspect entered with a loaded firearm and extended magazine, Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson said. The man, later identified as Samir Queen, pointed the gun at a victim and demanded money to be placed inside a duffel bag, Wilson said. Worley who was at the bank intervened, and with assistance from a customer, placed Queen under arrest after a brief struggle, authorities said. No injuries were reported. Worley is a three-and-a-half-year veteran at the Trenton Police Department who often donates her time to assist the Community Affairs Unit with outreach events and programs. "The City of Trenton and its Police Department are very fortunate to have officers like Ja'Neice helping our community and keeping it safe," Wilson said. Worley thanked the citizen for helping her subdue the robber. "I'm a Trenton Cop, it's what we do! I'm just glad I was there to prevent the robbery and I'm glad that no one got hurt."
