PLAINFIELD, IL — Two new police officers have joined the ranks of the Plainfield Police Department. Chris Jeka and Aditya Kakkar were sworn in by Village Clerk Michelle Gibas, officials said Wednesday.
Kakkar, a current resident of Plainfield, will be attending the Chicago Police Academy where he'll be trained in the field. The new officer has a bachelor's degree in criminology and criminal justice from Saint Louis University.
Jeka comes to the Plainfield Police Department with prior police experience. Before he was sworn in, he served as a police officer in Yorkville for more than eight years, officials said.
The officer holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and political science from the University of Saint Francis.
"Congratulations and thank you for selecting to serve our great community!!!" officials at the Plainfield Police Department wrote in an announcement on Facebook.
