PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Penguins, recently purchased by Fenway Sports Group, have announced a change at the top with the resignation of CEO David Morehouse. Morehouse joined the team as a consultant on the PPG Paints Arena project in 2004 and was named team president in April 2007. He became CEO in August 2010. During his time with the Pens, the team won three Stanley Cups, made the Cup Finals four times, and reached the conference finals five times. "After 16 amazing and rewarding years as a senior executive with the Pittsburgh Penguins, I am stepping down as president and CEO," Morehouse said in a statement. "I want to thank Ron Burkle and Mario Lemieux for taking a chance on me in 2007 and giving this Pittsburgh kid the dream of a lifetime to run his hometown hockey team."Fenway Sports Group purchased the team in November.
