LAKE FOREST, CA — Lake Forest Police Services will hold its annual Drug Take Back Day Saturday, April 30.
In a partnership with the DEA, the department's event allows residents to drop off unused or expired prescription drugs, tablets, capsules and other other solid forms of medications.Liquids, marijuana and other sharps will not be accepted, police said.
Drop-offs — free and anonymous with no questions asked — are accepted 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lake Forest Civic Center, 100 Civic Center Drive.
With assistance from law enforcement agencies, the DEA launched its National Prescription Drug Take Back Day more than 20 years ago in an effort to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.
In 2021, the DEA said nearly 745,000 pounds of unneeded prescriptions were collected nationwide.-----------
