GREENWICH VILLAGE, NY — Exactly one month after a woman jogging by the Hudson River was attacked and sexually assaulted, police identified the suspect.
Carl Phanor, 28, is believed to have attacked the 39-year-old jogger on the Hudson River Greenway near West and Clarkson streets in the early morning of March 27, police said.
The attacker rode his bike near the runner, pushed her to the ground and began to assault her, police contend.
After sexually assaulting the woman, the man snatched her cell phone and fled on his bike, police said.
Phanor, who lives at a Lower East Side homeless shelter, stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds, police said.

Initially, the only photo sent out by police was a blurry black and white picture.
The woman was hospitalized after the attack with pain and bruising, police said.
Anyone with information in regard to the identity of this male is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
