Looking for a fun and meaningful job this upcoming School Year?Apply today for an opportunity to join The Rinx Preschool Family!Job DescriptionThe Rinx Preschool Academy**LEAD TEACHER**Reports to and is supervised by the Assistant Head/Director.The lead teacher is responsible for general supervision and management of the preschool class. The lead teacher is responsible for planning and executing daily lessons developmentally appropriate to their class.Qualifications:Professionally prepared as a teacher of young children in the field of early childhood education and/or child development. The lead teacher should be a warm, sensitive, mature individual who relates well to children and adults. Must stay in compliance and be familiar with all regulations as stated for Child Day Care Centers listed under the Office of Children & Family Services. (OCFS)Educational RequirementA degree (Associates or above) in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or equivalent or have an current CDA (Child Development Associate) credential.Skills• Extensive knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood; ability to develop rapport with children, parents, and co-workers• Ability to develop high-quality, age appropriate lessons to successfully engage children and foster physical, emotional, cognitive and social development• Effective organizational and planning skills as well as interpersonal skills• Strong leadership qualities and skills• Ability to conform to an established work schedule• Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality• Strong group classroom and behavior management skills with children• Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentialityResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Supervise and maintain all educational equipment and materials in assigned area.• Maintain progress records of each child's growth and development; complete assessments as required.• Submit lessons plans weekly before the beginning of the week; parent newsletters and notes as required.• Discuss and work with parents to promote understanding of their child's growth and development• Encourage parent participation in school programs; attend events with parents; keep parents informed of classroom activities.• Conduct regular formal and/or informal parent/teacher conferences on each child's school adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress.• Conduct parent conferences in a professional manner.• Effectively co-teach, supervise, and utilize classroom assistants and primary floaters.• Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.• Share ideas and materials with co workers.• Maintain a clean, neat and organized classroom.Physical RequirementsMust have the ability to:• Lift up to 40 lbs.• Climb up and down stairs frequently• Work with children on the floor• Work outdoors in any variety of weather• Have visual and hearing capabilities that allow constant supervision of the children• Perform light duty cleaning, keeping your room and the facility clean• Have mobility to dress children and put ice skates on/off as needed for children in the 3, 4 and 5 year old program• Be familiar with computer skills (Word/ Excel)
