HARRISON, NY — Cabin fever has set in big-time as the NY PAUSE program stretches on. A music school with branches in Rockland and Westchester counties decided to do something about it.
The Harrison School of Music in Westchester County and the New City School of Music took all of their students online for private lessons three weeks ago. Now they've launched an online music program with free classes / lessons for its students called "Cabin Fever Busters."
This is a great way for students to break try new instruments and expand their music abilities, said Director Samuel Faraci, and the parents have been having a blast as well.
"It also gives parents back much needed time as they have to adjust with having a house full of children who are ready to have their energy channeled in a positive and educational way," he said.
They've taken it to the next level by collaborating with over 50 music schools in the US and Canada to be part of the group and add content.
Any student at the school taking weekly online lessons also has access to the Cabin Fever Buster group. In that group there is daily online programming, all for free, including:Ukulele classesTrivia tournamentsYoung children music classesGuitar lessonsDrum lessonsViolin lessonsGarage Band classesVirtual choir (vocalists record their parts and the school edits them into one large video layeringthe audio).Pro Tools classesRock band 'name that tune' tournamentsFiddle classesEar trainingPiano classesRock band jams"And the list goes on as we're still adding courses," he said. "The cost for our students? All free."
