**So far I have had only drummers respond to this ad** I play bass and I'm looking to start a cover band. But not the same cover band people have seen a thousand times already. Nowhere on this list will you find Play That Funky Music, Jenny Jenny, Mustang Sally, Centerfold, Disco Inferno, My Sharona, etc., because every other retro cover band plays them. To death. I know, people want songs they are familiar with and so almost all the songs on my list were top 10 hits. People just need to be reminded how great they are. I've tried to find songs with a feelgood vibe, centered loosely around 70's forgotten hits with a southern rock lean. I understand that this is a small niche and it's uncertain whether this will get some traction. For this reason it's important that first and foremost you like the music selection and enjoy playing it. I'm not gonna treat the setlist like some kind of state secret here since the more specific I am right now the less chance that I'm wasting your time. I'd also like to throw in a bunch of segues and snippets from other songs, like the last 30 seconds of Hello, Goodbye (hey la, hey hello ah) to keep the mood fun and unexpected. In the end, the final song selection will depend on the singer and whether we're able to find a keyboardist. Ideally I'd like to start out as a four piece plus vox - drum, bass, lead guitar, and rhythm guitar / keyboard. I do NOT have a P.A., rehearsal space, or any band management experience and it may take some time before we're gig ready. The goal is to play out 3-8 nights per month. I have been learning to sing and I sound like Chris Rea or Mark Knopfler, but my lack of experience makes me better suited to backup vocals.
