Theatrical Celtic folk
Meets
Portland OR
Description
Greetings all! First and foremost, if you’re reading this then my headline must have piqued your interest Out of morbid curiosity at the very least. Either way, thanks for reading. I am interested in putting together a moderately theatrical Celtic pagan style folk band. Not folk metal, but more medieval European traveling bard renaissance fair type stuff. The kind of thing you would find potentially on the soundtrack to Netflix’s the last Kingdom, at a tavern in the Shire or in the background music of Skyrim. Just for fun. I am brand-new to this kind of thing but I am certainly not new to being a musician, or a thespian for that matter. I am a 37-year-old man, I’ve been a drummer my entire life. I’m also a vocalist and will be teaching myself to play the tin whistle over the Foreseeable future. I have a lifetime of experience performing, recording, booking, promoting and touring. So, I’m currently not in Portland. I live in southern Oregon. So my goal is for a relatively low commitment kind of thing. The Project would largely be communication back-and-forth. Planning a show, set list, if there’s costumes involved or what have you. Getting together once every couple of months and then maybe playing anywhere between two and five shows a year at festivals or Renaissance fair type events. Eventually my wife and I are planning to move to the Portland/Vancouver area and a more active role could be played at that point if this project really gets off the ground. I want this to be fun and silly and kind of campy but tastefully so. I would be happy to Provide links to other music projects I’ve been involved in. What I’m looking for is anyone that’s at least 21 years old. Multi instrumentalists a plus, Vocal ability a definite plus. Acoustic guitar, fiddle, tin whistle, bagpipes, mandolin, frame drum, etc. You get the idea. You absolutely do not have to be a folk musician. As I said before, this is brand new to me. I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m just looking for like-minded individuals that want to experiment with something different and share some experiences. No attitudes, no egos, everybody gets a fair say in decision making. 420 friendly, beers or I guess Mead or what have you as fine as well but let’s leave it at that. Looking forward to chatting with some good folks. Skål
