Harrison To Hold Veterans Day Parade, Ceremony

It's been 101 years since World War I ended on Nov. 11, 1918. In honor of the nation's veterans, Harrison will hold a parade and ceremony. Line up will be at 9:30 a.m. on Underhill Avenue and Underhill Place in West Harrison. The step-off time will be at 10 a.m. Parade participants include veterans groups, Harrison Police, Harrison Fire Departments, Harrison High School Marching Band, Harrison Ambulance Corps and many other civic groups each year. "Our veterans have bravely served to protect our freedom and their spirit reflects a resolve to defeat any enemy and restore our country to its cherished way of life," Mayor Ron Belmont said in his column on Patch. "It was this very same spirit that drove our veterans towards victory in the many wars and conflicts of the past century. Now it's time that we all come together and honor our veterans, police, fire and emergency services."
