Description
Me: 34 years old. I've been playing in bands off and on for over twenty years. Been jamming with people over the past couple of years, between jam and fusion type of styles. My chops on guitar are back up for the most part. I am not, nor have I ever been a "shredder" but can be flashy when necessary. I can sing lead or backup and am somewhere between a male tenor and baritone. I really would love to incorporate multi-part vocal harmonies into whatever we do (think Alice in Chains or even The Beatles). I cannot growl/scream/rap. Influences: Early-mid '90's hard rock (Soundgarden / Alice in Chains / Faith No More / Stone Temple Pilots / Helmet, etc) Rock & Funk: The Beatles, pre-2000 Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin Metal: '80's Metallica / '90's Megadeth / Pantera / System of a Down / Deftones / Tool R&B/Hip Hop: Anderson Paak, The Isley Brothers, The Roots, Gorillaz I'd prefer there be no real genre limitations. I love so many different types of music. That said, I don't want to do anything just because we can. Whatever we do, I want it to be catchy, compelling, and energetic. I don't want to be limited to playing straight 4/4 times... 4/4 is not a requirement for being catchy. Many of my influences have proven that out. Looking to either join an existing group or start something anew, in which case I'm looking for a bassist and drummer to start with, then we can add on more pieces if/when it makes sense. If you already know another guitarist, keyboardist, or vocalist that would be interested, I'm fine with bringing them aboard now but don't want it to become a scheduling nightmare. Scheduling has been the Achilles' heel of everything I've tried to start lately, so the fewer the easier in that regard. My goal is to be able to rehearse 1-2x/week, then play a local show once every month or two. I am NOT interested in touring except for the occasional regional gig within a 3 hour radius of Chicago. I have a 9-5 and a family, so am not trying to make a living off of this.
