Description
Hello!
I am looking for a companion for my sister, a 45-year-old woman with mild cognitive impairment due to a brain injury. She is capable of attending to her own basic needs, but she needs help with her executive functioning, including decision-making, focus/attention, as well as self-control.
The day-to-day aspects of this job may include (but are not limited to):
- taking walks with her around the neighborhood
- engaging in interesting conversations
- possibly taking day trips around the city (all expenses reimbursed)
- helping her maintain attention and focus
- assisting her in positive decision-making and self-control
- redirecting any inappropriate behaviors or conversation topics
Requirements for this job include:
- at least a basic understanding of psychology/brain injuries
- ability to walk and move around with ease (my sister likes to take lots of walks)
- empathy, patience, and an ability to positively redirect difficult behaviors
Ideal candidates for this job are graduate students who are pursuing a degree in Psychology or Education (or a similar field). Flexible schedule.
