SALEM, MA — Some Salem residents woke up to no water, while others experienced morning travel delays, as crews attended to a water main break on Highland Avenue. The Salem Department of Public works said a 16-inch main broke early Friday morning and service was shut off on Highland Avenue from Mooney to Pep Boys, and on First Street from Highland Avenue to Traders Way. "Traffic will be impacted this morning, anticipate delays," Salem DPW announced. Morning, We've got a water break in the 16" main that runs along Highland Ave. Water service + traffic will be interrupted in the area as crews make repairs.— Kim Driscoll (@MayorDriscoll) September 18, 2020 I just went by the major water break on Highland Ave. and spoke to the city engineer. The work is going along great and should be done in 4-5 hours. Thank you to the men and women of the DPW who do a fantastic job. pic.twitter.com/EH2pFeaYaN— Tim Flynn Ward 4 (@TimFlynn4ward4) September 18, 2020
