Description
The Lead Welder handles advanced/complex assists with welding tasks on and off site in a safe manner. operations and managers on- and off-site, ensures work areas are kept clean, enforces safety policies, and assists welding personnel when required. This position will also lead small crews and will handle with special projects, determine work request priorities and assign repair orders.
High school diploma or equivalent, formal welding training and five to ten years welding maintenance experience;
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to design, fabricate, and repair metal and perform corrosion prevention;
Ability to use arch welders, Mig welders, plasma cutter and Acetylene equipment;
Working knowledge of shop equipment i.e. drill press, cranes, grinders and saws;
Must have an understanding of metal welding theory and practices; and
Must pass a pulmonary function and respirator fit test.
Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License; and
Record of safe driving for the last three years as shown on current MVR, with no serious accidents or traffic violations; and
A welding certification, or the ability to acquire one, from an accredited school or agency.
Valid Texas Commercial Driver’s License; and
Experience with aluminum welding, structure repairs and building erecting experience.
