I think you are wrong. He seems to be the Teflon Don. No matter what is thrown at him, no matter how blatant the error, how grievous the act, he always seems to be able to skate, doesn't he? I really don't blame him. It's who he is. Despite him clearly revealing himself, he still got the GOP nomination to run for the presidency. Twice.
I am old. When I grew up in the 50's, the Republican Party was the only sensible party to join. They believed in TRUE conservative values, limited government interference, support of business and industry that gave us our daily bread, noninterference in foreign affairs that didn't affect us. Somehow, somewhere the party got lost. The Nixon thing really caused us to lose hope. Then at the urging of first Anita Bryant, then piggy backed by Pat Robertson, the "Christians" came flooding in; folk who hitherto abstained from politics. They morphed into the Tea Party, so odious to even the GOP that the infighting became so intensive, so divisive were the ranks, that a political usurper with zero experience like Donald Trump marched right up the middle and took over. Gone are the days of bipartisan support. Gone are the days of Republican unity. We now not only have two parties at war with one another, there is war amongst the ranks of each party as well.
Donald Trump is only a symptom of a deeper, much more troubling issues. At best, moderate Dems and Republicans will unite and form one party, the extremes of right another, of left still a third. At worse, is unthinkable. Trust me. A divided nation can never stand. It is a very good time to be old in America. One man's opinion only.
