Job Description
Key Responibilities:
Deposit recoverable materials safely and efficiently into appropriate bin/area
Remove parts from cars and trucks using hand tools, power tools and hoists.
Drain fluids from automotive assemblies.
Disassemble major automotive assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and drivelines.
May operate machinery and equipment to process and to move scrap metal
Identify and sort metal by different commodity type
Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items
Package all commodities as directed by management
Perform general clean-up in all operational areas of work-site maintaining neat and clean work area.
Communicate job tasks and work well in a team environment and/or alone.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Prior automotive experience.
Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and hoists.
Ability to identify various parts of the automobile.
Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
Must be self starting with the ability to maintain consistent work standards.
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Experience with metal sorting a plus but not required; to include the ability to distinguish between different metals and/or other materials for grading purposes and recognizing safety hazards
Must be able to frequently lift 25 lbs or more to include carrying or pushing objects up to 100ft
Must be able to perform the physical task of the the job assigned; to include climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and crouching
Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather
