Salem Shooting Victim In Stable Condition

SALEM, MA — Salem police are crediting a patrol officer with saving the life of a man who was shot in the neck on Palmer Street Tuesday afternoon. Salem police officer Jherderson Rosario responded to the 3:08 p.m. call and applied a blood-clotting agent to the wound, "possibly saving the victim's life," Salem police said in a news release. The 32-year-old Haverhill man was transported to Mass General Hospital, where he is in stable condition. Police have no suspects in the shooting. While the victim was found near the intersection of Palmer and Park Streets, police believe the shooting occurred near 13-15 Palmer Street. Police said the property has a "history of vagrancy and drug offenses." Salem police do not believe the shooting was random.
