Description
SALEM, MA — Salem officials are warning businesses not to respond to people posing as "City Hall employees" who tried to peddle fraudulent workplace coronavirus compliance posters recently in Lynn.
Police said businesses in Lynn were approached by two people identifying themselves as being from City Hall and wearing ID lanyards. The people posing as city workers then told the businesses they needed to purchase "COVID-19 Workplace Guidance" posters for $49.99 or they would be fined or shut down.
Police said the posters look official and have what appears to be a federal agency label that reads "Labor and Compliance Services" — which is not an official government agency.
Any businesses approached in the city is asked to Salem police at 978-744-1212.
