The 2022 Primary Care Summit will be an in-person conference that will focus on interprofessional collaboration and evidence-based practice. 7:30-8:00- Registration- Breakfast provided 8:00 Introduction: Dan Kang, PT, DPT 8:15-10:00- Jeff Houck PT, PhD 10:15-10:30 Break 10:30-12:30 David Hanscom, MD 12:30-1:15 Lunch provided 1:15-3:15- Gail Deyle, PT, DSc, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT About the speakers: Dr. Jeff Houck, PT, PhD completed his physical therapy degree from Virginia Commonwealth University after which he completed a manual therapy residency. He received a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Iowa in 1999. Dr. Houck is presently a Professor at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University. Dr. Houck has given several international, national and local presentations/seminars related to clinical biomechanics, patient reported outcomes, primary care PT and person-centered care. His NIH funded research includes foot and ankle problems and hip fractures. His current research focuses on primary care physical therapy, foot and ankle care and the integration of person-centered patient reported outcomes in clinical care. Dr. Houck earned a certification in motivational interviewing and launched the Beyond Bio*Psycho*Social training platform @ beyondbiopsychosocial.com. Dr. Houck continues to develop his clinical skills and is especially interested in advancing psychosocial aspects of care. Dr. David Hanscom, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in the surgical correction of complex spinal deformity such as scoliosis and kyphosis. Much of his practice was devoted to performing surgery on patients who had undergone multiple prior spine surgeries. He quit his surgical practice in 2019 to pursue teaching patients and medical providers how to solve chronic pain. There are well-documented effective solutions for chronic pain that need to be brought into mainstream medicine. He has published several books and is developing resources for patients and providers to make the best decisions about their care with regards to chronic disease. Dr. Gail Deyle, PT, DSc, DPT is a Professor with Baylor University Graduate School and the founder and senior faculty member of the Army-Baylor University Doctoral Fellowship in Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy, located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He is an internationally recognized expert, frequent national guideline panel member, and experienced researcher on physical therapy treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee. His earned professional degrees include a BSc from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, a Master of Physical Therapy from Baylor University, a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Creighton University, and a Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy from Andrews University. He is board certified in Orthopaedics and he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists.
