A neighbor-led initiative to "Grow The Garden of Community" through the sharing of a meal, dialogue, and shared learning. Free Event ! June 2020 The city of Cleveland, Ohio declared racism a public health crisis. It is no secret that Black and brown Northeast Ohioans continue to suffer from many chronic health problems at higher rates than whites. Systemic issues such as, poverty, stress, pollution, lead poisoning in housing and lack of access to medical care and insurance are factors contributing to health issues for Black and Hispanic residents. Ideastream Public Media has the opportunity to expand the reach of the “Connecting the Dots Between Race and Health” project to new audiences and underserved communities. Shalom and Tranquility Community Garden's lead farmer, and Brooklyn Centre resident Ebonie Joiner (Randle) has been selected as one of 16 IdeaStream projects here in the city of Cleveland to take a different approach by seeking to create community conversations about barriers that influence health. The Community of Brooklyn Centre has been without a grocery store for over a decade. "Urban Farmer... Wing Down Wednesday" is A neighbor-led initiative to "Grow The Garden of Community" through the sharing of a meal, dialogue, and shared learning .
