On Saturday, June 18, 2022, we will gather on the grounds of our beloved "School Hill" to reunite, laugh and have a great time! With the increase in visibility to Juneteenth within the last year, cities large and small are hosting events. We thought it was only right that our community come together to join the celebration. We are small and mighty and refuse to be forgotten. We are Black Newark and together we will celebrate the liberation of slaves and the unbreakable bond of our community. This is a FREE event and registration is not required. Registering for a FREE TICKET will give us an idea of how many people are attending. We are PRE-SELLING TSHIRTS with Newark Street names on them. Cost is $25 and must be paid in advance through this Eventbrite link ONLY! We will have a day for you to pick up your tshirts in advance (to be announced soon). If you don't pick your tshirt on that day, you will be able to pick it up on the day of the event. We will not mail out any tshirts. Things to enjoy both inside and outside during the day include: historical walk, prayer, speaker, food trucks, music, vendors (inside the building) and reconnecting with forever friends and family and getting to know new faces. Most importantly, we will recognize former and current educators from our community! Bring swim wear because the pool will be open, bring your own chairs, tables, tents, cards, card tables and whatever you need to enjoy outdoor activites on the grounds of School HIll! Reunion Celebration Activities also include: 11:00 am Historical Walk starting at George M. Wilson Community Center, Corbit Street, Up to New London Road, Cleveland Avenue, College Avenue, turn around on Ray Street, then back to George M. Wilson 1:00 Prayer - Pastor Blaine Hacket 1:15 Historical Reflections - Syl Woolford, Local Historian 3:00 Storyteller 3:30 Presentation to Newark's Black Community Educators 7:00 PM— End of Event If you would like to be a Vendor, we have limited space available.
