Their experience on the ice sparks conversation, while invoking belly laughs and celebratory tears in this joyous adventure story. Mortimer and the Sender team joined forces with Big UP Productions in 2006 to found REEL ROCK Film Tour, which has become one of the biggest climbing and adventure film tours in the world. Over the last decade Peter has directed acclaimed feature-length documentaries such as The Alpinist, The Dawn Wall and Valley Uprising. Feature Film: LEARNING TO DROWN (dir. So far, so good. Knight also has a man-husband filmmaking partner named Travis Rummel. Together the pair has won more than 70 film festival awards in the last 16 years and were once nominated for National Geographic’s Adventurers of the Year for their 2006 documentary DamNation – but they lost. Their recent film The Last Honey Hunter qualified for a 2019 Short Documentary Oscar. Short Film: SLIM PICKINS (dir. Justin Michael Jeffers) On the corner of Main Street in Stephenville, Texas sits Slim Pickins Outfitters, the first Black-owned outdoor shop in the Country. Owned by Jahmicah Dawes and his wife Heather, the shop has become a staple in the community that represents fellowship, allyship and outfitting friends for their next adventure. More than retail, the Dawes are telling a story of hope and reconciliation, of community and friendship in an America that desperately needs to hear it. Runtime: 15min Year: 2021 Meet the Director: Justin Michael Jeffers is a multi-media visual artist residing in Seattle, Washington. Jeffers strives to create thoughtful content that fully reflects the mixed culture and community he grew up in. Recently, Jeffers has led workshops on Visual Storytelling at the NorthWest African American Museum in Seattle, as well as directed the short film Visualizing Lies which won the April Art With Impact Short Film Competition in April 2019. www.earthxfilmfestival.org
