Costa Boutsikaris, Anna Palmer) Thursday, May 12: STUDIO THEATER 4:30pm Short Film: LOON Doors at 4:00pm | Films at 4:30pm Inhabitants highlights the efforts of Native American Communities across the USA; from deserts, coastlines, forests, mountains and prairies, to restore their traditional practices of land management. After colonialism disrupted millennia of successful land stewardship, and as the climate crisis escalates, these time-tested practices of North America's original inhabitants are becoming increasingly essential and profoundly educational in a rapidly changing world. Screening Times: Thurs, May 12 - 4:30pm at Studio Theater Meet the Directors: In 2015 Costa Boutsikaris shot, directed and edited his first feature documentary filmed across six states entitled INHABIT: A Permaculture Perspective. In 2016 the film took home the Audience Choice Award at The Environmental Film Festival At Yale, the Princeton Environmental Film Festival, and won Best In Theme at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival. In 2017 Boutsikaris joined forces with Anna Palmer, a climate scientist working in the Southwest for a Tribal Advisory Board and together they began filming Inhabitants. Short Film: LOON (dir. Jason Whalen, Chris Zuker) Runtime: 10min Year: 2021 Mike Freed took the trail name Loon, after the spirit of the lakes of the north and then carried it with him thousands of miles thru-hiking all over the country. Now, in his later years, Freed has returned to his home in northern Minnesota where he cares for his property of more than 2,000 acres in the state's wild lake country. Screening Times: Thurs, May 12 - 4:30pm at Studio Theater Meet the Directors: Jason Whalen and Chris Zuker are the co-founders of Fauna Creative, a production company out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
