WESTPORT, CT — An elderly Westport woman was the driver of a car that crashed into a storefront on Railroad Place Tuesday afternoon, according to Westport police. The 2 p.m. crash not only damaged the building, but also damaged a vehicle parked nearby. The driver, who was not identified by police, was not injured in the crash, nor was anyone inside, according to officials. The crash is under investigation by the police department, but no charges have been filed against the driver, police officials said. Fire officials had said the crash appeared to have occurred "inadvertently." In addition to police and firefighters, Westport EMS personnel and the Westport Building Department also responded to assist on scene.
