Learn about the role of transportation planning in the future development of the historic Fayetteville Street Corridor.
Do you wonder who decides the locations of highways, bus shelters, traffic lanes, traffic lights, bike lanes, parking, rail locations, sidewalks and all things related to travel?
If so, welcome to the world of transportation planning.
Transportation planning is critical to the operation and growth of a community. That’s why it’s very important to understand what’s being planned, how these plans will affect our community and how you can become more involved in that process.
The Fayetteville Street corridor is a state-controlled road (SR 1118) and stretches from Main Street past Southpoint Mall almost to Chatham County. This fact makes Fayetteville Street a very long and important thoroughfare in our city and county.
