Black Women's Round Table Louisiana and Citizen SHE presents a short film screening of Free to Be Free. This film depicts the journey to support the C.R.O.W.N. Act in the state of Louisiana. The C.R.O.W.N. Act was created in 2019 by Dove and the Crown Coalition in partnership with then State Senator, Holly J. Mitchell, of California. The C.R.O.W.N. Act is meant to ensure and protect against race-based hairstyle discrimination. It extends statutory protection to hair texture and protective styles such as braids, locs, twists, and knots in the workplace as well as public schools.
