Join us to engage in interactive STEM workshops for your middle & high school students! What is Dia de Ciencias (DDC)? Día de Ciencias is an event for K-12 students and their parents made possible by the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE). It is a workshop based event that encourages students to build and design STEM projects, learn, and interact with STEM representatives and current UC Riverside engineering students. DDC's Mission: Increasing the enrollment of underrepresented high school students into higher education. The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers will present informational workshops that will familiarize both students and parents with college and STEM majors. The event will include: Opening Presentation with Keynote speaker STEM Activities/Workshops College Prep Education Presentation and Student Panel Who are we? SHPE at UCR inspires the future generation of Hispanics to become the next leaders in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields through resources, professional development, and STEM awareness. Our vision is "to see Hispanics as innovators and scientists in the U.S., and eventually the world.” As a student chapter, we believe that academic and outreach success can bring awareness to the Hispanic community to develop the next generation of STEM Hispanic professionals. Giving back to the community is one of the vital steps towards this goal. Our outreach focuses on teaching and inspiring young students so that they are comfortable with STEM subjects and see them as a tangible avenue for a college major and career.
