WESTPORT, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories. This submission comes from Toni Boucher who nominated Al DiGuido of Westport, who organizes holiday meals, gifts and toys for children battling illnesses and their families. Name: Al DiGuido State: CT Hometown: Westport Hero's job: Business Relationship to nominee: Owner of Saugatuck Sweets of Westport and Fairfield Reason for recognition: Al organizes holiday meals, gifts and toys to thousands of children and families battling cancer, rare blood diseases, natural disasters and severe financial hardship though an army of volunteers called Al's Angels.
