Years ago, a woman who knew that I was a christian asked me to visit her husband. He was on his deathbed and terrified of dying. My heart broke because this man who had lived a godless life, and in the face of death he was broken with guilt that in his youth he had killed people in war. As much as I tried to console the poor man with the gospel, he was almost inconsolable. I couldn't but help think of this verse. " Here is the man who did not make God his strength". What was sad was that his wife showed little empathy for the man. The world is filled with people who live with their backs to God, strengthening themselves in their own wickedness. They have know idea that they hang by a thin spiderweb over eternity in hell. The tragedy is that most believe in God and have a Bible in their home but they are strangers to biblical repentance and faith in Jesus. They are so close to the kingdom and yet so far. Father, You are my only hope, my joy, and my crown. AMEN
