Description

PLEASE NOTE: Due to expected inclement weather on its originally scheduled date of Dec. 12, this event has been moved to its rain date of Dec. 19. Press release from Westport Museum for History & Culture: Westport Museum for History & Culture will be hosting an outdoor holiday market on its grounds in downtown Westport Saturday, December 19 from 10am to 4pm. The socially-distanced, mask-required event will feature local artists and artisans, and outdoor version of the Museum's popular gift shop, and roaming Santa Claus. "This year we couldn't do our popular Holly Days events at the Museum, including the beloved Jingle Bell Rock—a full day of fun activities and an opportunity to meet Santa Claus," said Executive Director, Ramin Ganeshram. "The outdoor holiday market is a way to bring together holiday shoppers and local vendors in a socially distant manner—and for the kid's to wave hello to Santa Claus, who has agreed to take a break from toy-making to join our festivities!" Visitors will also get to enjoy individually packaged refreshments provided by the Fresh Market. Gift wrapping services for a nominal fee for items purchased both at the market and elsewhere will be available. "This has been an incredibly hard year for everyone and the holidays are so different from what we all know and love," said Ganeshram. "We hope this event, while small, will be able to bring some cheer to visitors—in a way that makes everyone feel safe." Shoppers are required to wear masks and remain socially distant in limited numbers as managed by Museum staff. Vendors at the Holiday Market are offering a variety of gifts from handmade botanical soaps and lotions; handmade crochet and knitwear and accessories; boutique estate bottled Italian olive oil; paintings and art work and more.
