The Westport Young Woman’s League (WYWL) is proud to kick-off the holiday season with its new campaign, “Look Good, Feel Good & Do Good!” which embodies positivity and togetherness and reminds people they are beautiful inside and out, at the close of this challenging year. The WYWL has teamed up with Westport small businesses: Pure Barre, 291 Post Road East; Row House, 380 Post Road East; and Salon Paul Michael, 1258 Post Road East to launch Look Good, Feel Good & Do Good! with the simple mission to keep people motivated and inspire and empower them to live their best life every day,” explained WYWL’s President, Monique Hodges. The Westport Young Woman’s League believes in the power of community, collaboration, and inclusivity because we truly are stronger together. Given that the COVID-19 pandemic has reshaped almost every aspect of our daily life, WYWL had to rethink its approach to events and how to connect with the community. “We know our supporters may not be celebrating in the same ways they have in the past, and as we continue to stay close to home, we felt that it was important to shift our approach and also invite our members and patrons to support local businesses, the fabric of our community as we raise funds for our Community Grant Program,” stated WYWL’s Vice President, Janet Battey Dzienkonski. Now until December 31, 2020, any new customer that purchases a workout package at either Pure Barre and/or Row House or books an appointment at Salon Paul Michael, 15% of the purchase will be donated to WYWL in support of their Community Grant Program. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with WYWL on this project,” stated local fitness powerhouse Laura Sabia, who opened Pure Barre in 2013, and purchased Row House this past May, “staying fit can keep you healthy physically, but exercise also boosts your mental and spiritual health, too.” These highly-effective, low-impact workouts in-person or digital fitness classes fill a niche in the self-care space locally. “It’s important to take care of yourself and to be kind to others during this time,” echoed Ernie and Paul Addario, father-son co-owners of Salon Paul Michael. Everyone leaves the salon feeling and looking fabulous, each in their own unique way and “part of our vision when we opened Salon Paul Michael last year was to find a way to help and support members of our community. We received tremendous support from the community during the pandemic and this is our way of paying it forward.” “Restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic have forced the Westport Young Woman’s League to rethink our approach to fundraising, including postponing several events like our annual spring Minute Man Race, a 10K and 5K run/walk and moving others into a virtual environment like Craft Westport,” explained WYWL’s Fund Development Manager, Julianne Bochinski. “These established fundraising events allowed us to distribute $80,000 in grants in 2019 and over $4.2 million since our inception in 1956 to community and/or education-based charities and non-profits throughout Fairfield County.”
