Description

Celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month and join us for a lunch and inspiring program about the families helped at Peace at Home! The Courage Award honors individuals or groups who have shown fortitude, strength, and dedication to empowering domestic violence survivors and their families through volunteerism, philanthropy, and commitment to eradicating violence from our communities. These awards are given by Peace at Home Family Shelter to acknowledge the contributions of the individuals who best exemplify the Shelter’s mission: to empower victims of domestic violence to survive and thrive. 2022 Courage Award Honoree: In Memory of Candy Clark We are excited to host this event with our supporters and remember Candy Clark and to raise awareness and needed funding for the Candy Clark Pet Sanctuary! Candy Clark was a local business owner, community advocate, and served Washington County as a Justice of the Peace for six years. She was the first Executive Director of the Humane Society of the Ozarks and her advocacy for animals continued throughout her life. During her lifetime, Candy was passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence leave abusive situations safely with their pets. While Candy Clark passed away in 2020, her memory and legacy will continue in a critical community resource: the Candy Clark Pet Sanctuary at Peace at Home Family Shelter.
