Need help Pulling a Well Pump for my Father Please

My dad is 68 and in need of some help. He has no water for 2 weeks now. He's on Soc. Sec. I'm out of work so I have been trying to help him out I set up an Electric hoist to help me pull the pump. I've gotten all the pipe up and out 120 ft but the pump was disconnected from the pipe and is stuck in the well !!! I've kept trying to drop it down a ways and pull back up but to No Avail. Does anyone know how to get it unstuck so I finish replacing the Check Valve. Thank you for any help that you may be able to offer. God's Blessing's to anyone whom may be able to Help me out here.
