Press release from the Town of Plymouth: April 26, 2022 Senator Edward J. Markey, Chair of the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Subcommittee on Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Safety, will host a subcommittee field hearing at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 6th in Plymouth, Massachusetts on policies regarding the decommissioning process for nuclear plants such as the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. Topics to be covered include nuclear safety and security issues and state, local, and community stakeholder engagement. REGISTER TO ATTEND: The public can register to attend by following this link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/hearing-issues-facing-communities-with-decommissioning-nuclear-plants-tickets-322700103697 LIMITED SEATING + COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: Due to continued COVID-19-related public health concerns and limited space at Plymouth Town Hall, limited seating will be available in the field hearing room (1820 Courtroom). As a result, attendees will not be guaranteed a seat in the hearing room. For registered attendees unable to secure a seat in the hearing room, seating will be offered in Plymouth Town Hall's Great Room, where the hearing will be livestreamed for attendees to view. Finally, the health and safety of hearing participants and attendees remains a top priority. All attendees are required to wear masks during the entire hearing. LIVESTREAM: For those who are unable to register for a ticket or who wish to watch remotely, the hearing will also be livestreamed on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW) webpage, found here: https://www.epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2022/5/issues-facing-communities-with-decommissioning-nuclear-plants.
