MILFORD, MA — A Milford resident has filed paperwork to run for the 10th Worcester House seat, setting up a possible challenge for longtime incumbent Democrat Brian Murray in 2022.
Robert Hansen, 41, filed papers Wednesday organizing a campaign committee, a key step in making a run for state office. Like all candidates, Hansen would still have to gather signatures to get his name on the ballot.
Hansen, who did not immediately return a request for comment, did not indicate which party he would be running as a candidate for in his campaign committee papers.
Murray first won the 10th Worcester House seat in 2016, facing off against Republican Sandra Biagetti. He defeated Biagetti a second time in the 2018 general election, but has not faced a challenger — either in a primary or general election — since. Democrat John Fernandes held the seat between 2007 and 2016.
Murray said Wednesday that he will be running for another term in 2022.
