Press release from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven: April 26, 2022 In just two weeks on May 4-5, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's Great Give returns for its 13th year. This 36-hour community-wide, online giving event benefits local nonprofits serving The Community Foundation's 20-town region which includes: Ansonia, Bethany, Branford, Cheshire, Derby, East Haven, Guilford, Hamden, Madison, Milford, New Haven, North Branford, North Haven, Orange, Oxford, Seymour, Shelton, Wallingford, West Haven and Woodbridge. Donations at www.thegreatgive.org to any of the 450+ participating nonprofits will unlock over $268,000 in prizes and prorated matching funds from sponsors. Since the first Great Give, more than $17 million has been raised for the Greater New Haven region. There are many returning and some new sponsors in 2022. The two largest sponsors continue to be The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, the event's creator, offering a $100,000 match pool and its affiliate the Valley Community Foundation which is providing a match pool of $20,000. Other returning sponsors include: Bank of America Charitable Foundation, Griswold Home Care, KeyBank Foundation, NewAlliance Foundation, Liberty Bank, Branford Community Foundation, Guilford Foundation, and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's Progreso Latino Fund and Konopacke funds. New sponsors in 2022 include: The Community Foundation's Black Futures Fund, the Harvest Development Group, Madison Foundation and Next Door restaurant. A variety of criteria is used to determine hourly prizes during the 36-hour period that starts 8:00 a.m. on May 4 and runs through 8:00 pm on May 5. Advance giving opens on April 25 and counts toward match calculations, but does not count toward hourly prize incentives during the official 36 hours of The Great Give.
