We're knot kidding - macrame is fun, useful and creative! Take this class to learn the basics of macrame and create a mod plant holder.
Macrame is making a comeback! In a recent walk down Division Street, no fewer than three storefronts featured macrame plant holders. They are definitely of the moment. In this two hour class, you'll learn how to make your own plant holder while you learn the basics of macrame. With just a few simple knots and techniques, you'll be off and running. If you have some experience, the instructor will be able to help you customize your project so you can try some new things. This is a perfect class to do with a friend - come and make together!
Date: May 12, 7-9 pm
Cost: $30 including materials ($27 for members) ($10 on eventbrite to reserve your spot now, the remainder payable via card, check or cash the night of the class.)
Materials: Macrame cord and a simple pot will be provided. If you have a specific pot you would like to make a holder for, bring it!
Age: 12 to adult
Teacher Info: Susan Dean learned macramé in the 1970's and has continued the art on and off since then. With renewed interest in the craft, she is excited to share what she has learned. She especially likes mixing simple knotting methods with beading and frequently adds embellishments such as beads, unusual yarns, charms and other findings to her work.
