Danvers Goes Purple In Support Of Residents In Recovery

DANVERS, MA — Danvers residents are invited to wear purple and come out for a family-friendly night in support of their children and neighbors dealing with substance addiction and recovery. The annual DanversCARES even will be May 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peabody Institute Library Rotary Pavilion where families are asked to arrive in purple for a walk, illumination ceremony and series of speakers on substance abuse, recovery and prevention. Walk registration and welcoming remarks at 6:30 are followed by the walk at 7 and speakers and illumination at 7:30. Parking is available at the town lot adjacent to town hall. The event is free and open to the public with the first 150 registrants receiving purple T-shirts. Prevention and treatment information will be provided. The walk is about 1 mile down Elm Street, High Street and through Danvers Square up the Rail Trail along Hobart Street and back to the library.
