HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The first wave of National Merit Scholars for 2022 has been named by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. There will be three more rounds of scholarship winners under the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program for a total of 7,500 academic champions and scholarships worth approximately $28 million.
Approximately 1,000 distinguished high school seniors have won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards financed by more than 135 corporations, company foundations and other business organizations. Scholars were selected from students who advanced to the finalist level in the National Merit Scholarship competition and met the criteria of their scholarship sponsors.
