CONCORD, NH — The Powerball jackpot is on the rise in New Hampshire and nationally and is creeping toward half a billion dollars, according to officials.
The New Hampshire Lottery said the estimated jackpot is expected to be $454 million on Wednesday. The one-time cash payout will be around $272 million before taxes.
"It's an exciting time for New Hampshire Lottery players as we have another big Powerball jackpot on our hands, with an anticipated $454 million on the line in tomorrow night's drawing," Charlie McIntyre, the executive director of the New Hampshire Lottery, said. "We love growing jackpots like these as they present a tremendous opportunity both for our players and for maximizing sales revenue for education in New Hampshire. Let's keep the momentum going."
The largest Powerball jackpot in history was in January 2016, at nearly $1.6 billion.
No one has won for 30 consecutive drawings, McIntyre said.
The drawing will be held just before 11 p.m. on Wednesday.
