Concord Couple Shooting Update: FBI Working With Investigators

CONCORD, NH — Investigators working to solve a double-homicide case in the eastern part of the city are asking for the public's help as federal partners have now become involved with the case. Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, said the Federal Bureau of Investigation is officially assisting the department in finding out who killed Stephen and Djeswende Reid of Alton Woods Drive in Concord. Thursday afternoon, the couple was found on the Marsh Loop Trail off Portsmouth Street, not far from their home. Stephen Reid, who grew up in Concord, had moved back to the city after retiring and a long stint working for the federal government overseas. On Monday, Kristen Setera, a press representative with the FBI Boston Office, said the bureau was not involved with the case but could be if requested. However, he said, investigators were asking for people to come forward with any information they may have. "We're asking for more," Garrity said, "no matter how innocuous (the tips) may seem." Garrity said anything caught on a doorbell camera, unusual vehicles in the area, or descriptions of people on the trail in the past would help investigators. Essentially, anything out of the ordinary, he said. While investigators have been working with a point in time of around 2:30 p.m. on April 18, when Stephen and Djeswende Reid were known to have left their apartment for a walk on the Broken Ground Trails, witnesses should report anything unusual before that timeframe — either in the neighborhood or the trails. Garrity would not speak about any specifics about the case or information about the tips investigators received.
